In Police Academy 3: Back in Training (1986), police funding is cut, forcing the Governor to announce the closure of one of the academies. To ensure fairness, a competition is organized between the two police academies to determine which one will be allowed to stay in operation. However, Officer Mauser sees this as an opportunity and convinces two officers from Lassard's academy to join him and increase his chances of winning.

As the competition begins, hilarity ensues as the two academies go head-to-head in a series of wacky challenges. The recruits, led by Commandant Lassard, must prove their worth in order to save their beloved academy. Yet, things quickly spiral out of control when Mauser's recruits turn out to be more interested in causing chaos than helping their team win.
