In the movie City Girl (1930), Lem, a young farmer from Minnesota, travels to Chicago to sell the wheat his family has grown. During his stay, Lem meets Kate, a kind-hearted waitress, and the two quickly develop a deep connection. They fall in love and decide to get married before returning to Lem's family farm.

However, things do not go as smoothly as they had hoped. When Kate arrives at the farm, she is accepted by Lem's mother and sister, but his father is skeptical of her intentions. He believes that Kate only married Lem for his money, especially since their wheat harvest did not fetch a fair price.

To make matters more complicated, a group of reapers arrives at the farm, and they begin to show interest in Kate. Lem misunderstands the situation and believes that Kate reciprocates their advances. Feeling betrayed and heartbroken, Kate leaves the farm in despair.

Devastated by Kate's departure, Lem sets out on a journey to find her and bring her back. Will he be able to find Kate and mend their relationship, despite the challenges they have faced? The film explores themes of love, misunderstanding, and the complexities of rural life in this gripping tale of young love and resilience.
